The newly constituted board of the Agro-Investment Corporation (AIC) has been tasked with driving increased investments to the agricultural sector.

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Floyd Green, on Friday (December 11), handed over equipment, valued $29 million, to the National Irrigation Commission (NIC) Limited and Water Resources Authority (WRA), under the Essex Valley Agriculture Project.
The NIC received a backhoe valued $24 million, while the WRA was presented with a 2020 Nissan Qashqai SUV, priced at $5 million, to aid in the maintenance and future viability of the £35.5 million agriculture project, being developed in St. Elizabeth.

Eighty-three fishers operating at four fishing beaches in St. Catherine have received vouchers valued at $30,000 each to purchase gear and equipment.
The beaches are Hellshire, Hunts Bay, Port Henderson, and Old Harbour Bay.
The fishers are the first recipients under the coronavirus (COVID-19) incentive programme, which will benefit stakeholders in the sector who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.
