400 farmers benefit from training to improve technical skills and livelihood

Four hundred farmers were presented with certificates of completion on Wednesday (December 18), after an eight-month capacity building training programme geared at improving their technical skills, livelihood and overall earning potential.
The training programme was facilitated under the ninth cycle of the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF), which is aimed at contributing to the improvement in the living conditions of poor and vulnerable communities.

January 2020 deadline set for submission of requests for repairs of farm roads

A deadline of mid-January 2020 has been set for requests to be submitted for repairs of farm roads.
The announcement was made by Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. J.C. Hutchinson, at the opening of two farm roads, Marl Road in Balaclava and the other in Castleton, St. Elizabeth on December 19.

Several residents of Trelawny have welcomed the employment opportunities afforded them by Organic Growth Holdings (OGH) Incorporated’s craft medicinal hemp farm at Long Pond Estate in the parish.

At least 30 residents from the communities of Jackson Town, Clarks Town and Duncans have been employed by OGH since the entity was granted a lease for the 635-acre property in June this year.
