Hon J.C. Hutchinson, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, meets with Her Excellency Inés Fors Fernández, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba; at a meeting held at the Ministry’s Hope Gardens’ offices in Kingston on May 2. The meeting discussed the possibility of purchasing agricultural implements such as ploughs and harrows, greenhouses and windmills from Cuba as well as Jamaica providing assistance to the Cuban government with new varieties of sugar cane in order to boost the performance of their sugar cane industry.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Audley Shaw on April 30, met with an Israeli delegation of Agriculture and Water Experts at his New Kingston offices. The delegation is on a fact finding mission to Jamaica.

Minister Shaw and the delegation held discussions on the possibilities for cooperation in water, agriculture and domestic security. The team is also looking at Vernamfield in Clarendon as a potential logistics hub facility.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Hon. Audley Shaw, is encouraging businesses in the Micro, Small and Medium (MSME) sector to formalise their operations in order to access the necessary low interest funds to grow their businesses.
