ADVISORY 1/22 WITH REGARDS TO RESTRICTIONS ON LIVE BIRDS, EGGS, RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS, RAW PET FOOD FROM NORTH CAROLINA (at the county level), SOUTH CAROLINA (at the county level), INDIANA, KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE STATES WITHIN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE PROVINCES OF NOVA SCOTIA IN CANADA.

Please take note of updates regarding the above mentioned.

  1. The importation of LIVE BIRDS, HATCHING EGGS, RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS, and RAW PET FOOD, will NOT be allowed from the following listed states within the United States of America: NORTH CAROLINA (at the county level), SOUTH CAROLINA (at the county level), INDIANA, KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE
  2. The importation of LIVE BIRDS, HATCHING EGGS, RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS, and RAW PET FOOD, will NOT be allowed from the following listed province in Canada: NOVA SCOTIA.
  3. ALL Importers are advised/ reminded that products MUST NOT originate from the affected states/ province at this time and until further updated.
  4. All Importers are advised/ reminded that products of animal origin including  LIVE BIRDS,  HATCHING EGGS, RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS, and  RAW PET FOOD, must NOT be shipped from countries of origin without a Valid Veterinary Import Permit in hand issued by the Veterinary Services Division. These consignments should further be accompanied by a Valid Original Export Health Certificate issued by the competent Veterinary Authority within the exporting country issued in accordance with the conditions of a current veterinary import permit, prior to export.
  5. ALL IMPORTERS ARE BEING REMINDED THAT ALL DOCUMENTATION MUST BE CONSISTENT AND DEMONSTRATE CLEARLY THE STATE OF ORIGIN, SLAUGHTER, PROCESSING, PACKAGING AND WAREHOUSING OF THE IMPORTED ITEMS.
  6. ALL IMPORTERS ARE BEING REMINDED THAT THE CURRENT RESTRICTION DOES NOT INCLUDE FULLY COOKED POULTRY ITEMS; HOWEVER DEMONSTRATION OF TIME AND TEMPERATURE ENDORSED BY THE COMPETENT VETERINARY AUTHORITIES WITHIN THE USA AND CANADA IS REQUIRED.
  7. For all consignments en route to Jamaica a forty-eight (48) hour notice of arrival must be issued to the Quarantine Unit of the Veterinary Services Division, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
  8. Please update the relevant personnel within your organization with regards to the current update.

    In summary, at this time and until further advised, products SHOULD NOT come from the states of North Carolina (at the county level), South Carolina (at the county level), Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee in the United States and the province of Nova Scotia in Canada.

           Additionally, containers shipped from affected states, provinces or areas will not be permitted landing in Jamaica.
