Fishers are being warned against catching lobsters during the closed season, which begins on April 1 and runs until June 30.
The closed season is to give lobsters a chance to breed and repopulate, and during the period, it is illegal to catch, buy or sell spiny lobsters.
Speaking at a JIS Think Tank on Tuesday (March 14), Chief Executive Officer at the National Fisheries Authority (NFA), Dr. Gavin Bellamy, said persons could face hefty fines if caught with lobster during the closed season.
