Farmers and residents in the upper and lower Black River morass communities are breathing a sigh of relief with the purchase of an $82.89-million amphibious excavator by the Ministry for use by the National Irrigation Commission. This amphibious excavator is designed to manoeuvre on land with soft terrain and in shallow waters such as rivers and swamps not exceeding 4 metres in depth. The excavator will be cleaning up to 42, 000 metres of drainage area annually in over 20 communities. Click here to learn more.
