Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Extends Sympathy Over Missing Fishermen

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Floyd Green, is extending his sympathies to the family and friends of the 15 Honduran fishermen who were aboard the lost fishing vessel, the Falling Star.

The last known GPS tracking of the vessel was recorded on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 5:45 GMT. The men who were contracted by Rainforest were en route to Jamaica for the lobster season which commenced on July 1, 2021.

Less reliance on dewormers critical for growth of small ruminant sector, says Green

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Floyd Green, says proper care of small ruminants to include less reliance on use of dewormers is critical to achieving rapid growth of the industry.

Noting that the resistance of parasites to dewormers has been a long-standing issue locally and internationally, Green said there have been reports of resistance to medications that treat parasites from countries such as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Spain, France, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the United States.
