Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon Audley Shaw, broke ground for construction of a $109-million single storey building to house the Rural Agricultural Development Authority’s (RADA) Hanover Parish Office in Haughton Court on January 29, 2020.
The new facility will replace the old dilapidated building, which was demolished in 2017, and will enable improved operations for staff, and an extension of the services offered to the over 7,400 farmers in the parish.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, is beefing up the praedial larceny unit in order to enhance its effectiveness in curtailing agricultural theft across the island.

Company To Invest US$280 Million In Bamboo Farm

Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Floyd Green, says a company is set to invest US$280 million in the development of a bamboo farm in Trelawny.

Mr. Green made the disclosure at the official launch of the 65th staging of the Hague Agricultural and Industrial Show, on Wednesday (January 22), at the Hague Showground in Trelawny.

Local Film Industry Contributes $2.5 Billion To GDP

Film Commissioner at Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), Renée Robinson, says the local film industry contributed $2.5 billion to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) during the 2018/19 fiscal year.

In an interview with JIS News, Ms. Robinson said the film industry has grown exponentially, and that the last few years have been “transformative for the film industry in Jamaica and for the cultural economy as a whole”.
