New Coffee Regulations in Place

Industry Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Karl Samuda has announced that regulations are now in place that will ensure that all coffee that is imported, packaged and sold locally will be mixed with Jamaican green beans.
The objective of this measure is to boost the expansion of Jamaican coffee and eventually eliminate the importation of green beans.

Stanberry wants food safety culture, encourages responsible use of pesticides

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Donovan Stanberry, is urging Jamaicans to build a culture of food safety.
Mr Stanberry, who was speaking at the presentation of research findings on pesticide application by farmers, held November 17 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, said more fertiliser was being used in Jamaican agriculture than was necessary.
He pointed out that although the application of fertilisers was necessary to increase food production, it was equally important to ensure the proper and appropriate use of pesticides...
