Organic farming and food security will be the focus of this year’s symposium at the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show.

The Government will be moving to tackle the problem of imported refined sugar for use in the manufacturing sector, which ends up in the retail trade.

Karl Samuda: “You cannot have sugar being produced…brought back having been refined and then you have manufacturers, who use that refined sugar as raw material, and get duty concession, selling it in the retail trade at enormous profit. A major conglomerate will be investing in more than 200 acres of land for the production of hot peppers at the Hounslow Agro Park, in St. Elizabeth.
