The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr, is encouraging all Jamaicans to give full support to Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) Denbigh Agricultural and Industrial Show, which has returned after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show, which is in its 68th staging, will be held on the Denbigh Showground in May Pen, Clarendon, July 30 - August 1 under the theme ‘Grow Smart, Eat Smart’.

Denbigh 68 is a celebration of the dedication and resilience of our farmers and fisherfolk and their contribution to our food security programme as well as national development.

According to the minister, the event provides an opportunity for our farming and fishing interests to display the best efforts of their labour.

It also provides an opportunity to view the latest in innovation and technology related to agriculture and aquaculture.

The minister is encouraging all farmers and fisherfolk, parents and children, teachers and students, young and old, to come and share in the excitement of this entertaining and educational event and learn more about the agricultural and fisheries sector and its contribution to national development.

This year’s show will feature a youth in agriculture village, health and wellness village, children’s village, agricultural and horticultural displays, livestock displays, the National Farm Queen coronation, a gospel show and more.

On Saturday, which is dubbed the Minister’s Day, the National Farm Queen Coronation will take place along with youth-centred activities.

Sunday is the Governor General’s Day and will feature a Hi-Pro Denbigh Gospel extravaganza.

Finally, on Monday, August 1, the Prime Minister’s Day will culminate with a showcase of Jamaica’s culture with an exciting local artiste in performance.

Gates will be open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.

Tickets will be available at the gate and admission is $1,200 for adults and $600 for children.

‘Denbigh 68’ is supported by Jamaica 4-H Clubs, the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), Hi-Pro, HEART/NSTA Trust, Development Bank of Jamaica, H&L Agro, Caribbean Chemicals Jamaica Limited, Massy Distribution, Bay’Z, Restaurants of Jamaica Limited, National Land Agency, Mavis Bank Coffee Factory Limited, Wray and Nephew and media partners.
