The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries would like to remind the general public that since the last outbreak of E. coli on Romaine Lettuce in the United States of America in November 2019, the Plant Quarantine Produce Inspection Branch has maintained a suspension on the importation of Romain Lettuce into Jamaica.
This means that Jamaica has not imported Romaine Lettuce and remains vigilant at our ports of entry to ensure that same is not imported into the country.
Should you need additional information or have any queries, please contact the Plant Quarantine Produce Inspection Branch at the telephone numbers (876) 977-6401, (876) 977-0637 or send us an email at ppq@micaf.gov.jm.
The Ministry craves your support, as we continue to safeguard our public health whilst facilitating safe trade.
Let us to Eat What We Grow and Grow What We Eat."
