First Freshwater Fish Agro-Park to Be Established in Mitchell Town

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Hon. Floyd Green, has announced plans for the establishment of an agro park in Mitchell Town, Clarendon to produce freshwater fish.

“We’re going to embark on our first ever freshwater fish agro-park; so, it will be an aqua-park. What it means is, just as you can go to an agro-park and you can rent the infrastructure, you will be able to do that, and we’ve identified lands in Mitchell Town,” he said.

State Minister Outlines Support for Farmers in Trelawny

Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Hon. Franklin Witter, has assured that the Government continues to provide much needed support to farmers in Trelawny.

Jamaica’s farmers have significantly increased tomato production, particularly in the southern parishes, with St. Elizabeth leading the way. This growth is the result of farmers’ dedication and the strategic interventions of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).

Jamaica to surpass target set for Onion Production in 2025

Jamaica is set to surpass its national onion production targets this year thanks to the intervention of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining’s National Onion Programme (Production Incentive Programme).

The Ministry has targeted planting 400 hectares of onions for the crop season and is already at 202 hectares planted, with additional planting expected to take place.
