$106,000,000 irrigation project to be executed in Ebony Park, Clarendon

The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) will be expending over 106,000,000 million Jamaican dollars to put over 93 acres of arable land in Ebony Park, Clarendon, under irrigation through the Agro-Investment Corporation’s (AIC) Irrigation Transmission Force Main and Equipping Project.

Farmers in Agro Parks at Ebony Park, Clarendon, to Benefit from Improved Irrigation

More than 100 farmers within agro parks in Ebony Park, Clarendon, are to benefit from improved irrigation infrastructure and equipment for their crops, thereby minimising agricultural output loss.

Support for Farmers Impacted by Drought

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining has earmarked $90 million to provide support to the nation’s farmers that are being impacted by the current drought conditions.

The money will be used to truck water, provide drip irrigation and other assistance for crop and livestock farmers as part of the Ministry’s drought mitigation programme.

Essex Valley Project to Transform Agriculture, Rural Development – Witter

Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining, Hon. Franklin Witter, says the Essex Valley Agriculture Development Project (EVADP) will revolutionise farming and rural development in South St. Elizabeth and its environs.

The project, which is slated for completion in early 2025, will deliver 1,700 cubic metres of water per hour, benefiting more than 700 farmers operating on 810 hectares of land in the Essex Valley region of the parish.
